Abstract

    This research This research explores the impacts of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) on poverty alleviation in District Swat, Pakistan. BISP, as one of the largest social safety nets in Pakistan, aims to provide financial assistance to the poorest segments of society. This study specifically examines how BISP has contributed to reducing poverty levels in Swat, a region that has experienced significant socio-political challenges. Through a qualitative analysis based on interviews and secondary data, this paper assesses the effectiveness of cash transfers in alleviating poverty and improving household welfare. The research concludes that BISP has had a positive impact on poverty reduction; although challenges related to program implementation and reach remain.
